| Misbah-ul-Haq:
'I am really happy with the performance. We were really positive from
the start, everyone chipped in, especially Shehzad and Hafeez. Umar Gul was excellent, we were not taking wickets with the new ball, he set the
tone for us. The spinners were excellent as well. My injury (tweaked
groin) is OK. I just wanted to take some rest and should be fine for the
next match.' |
| Hafeez:
'Thanks to god as well as to my supporters, as well as my critics, who
make me perform all the time. I was planning not to get bogged down. I
was looking to play technical shots, credit to Shehzad. He got going in
the partnership and that gave the remaining batsmen the momentum. Our
bowling was outstanding as well.' |
| Hafeez is the MoM for his fine 140 |
| Mathews:
'It was a disappointing all-round performance. I felt that the fielding
and batting was poor, we need to comeback in the next two matches. We
have done pretty well chasing, it was a great wicket to bat on but we
lost too many wickets.' |
| A
comprehensive victory in the end for Pakistan. Sri Lanka were never in
the chase, Gul struck twice in his 2nd over, a lot depended on Dilshan
and Sangakkara, but the latter was dismissed cheaply. The rest caved in
cheaply, despite a fighting fifty from Dilshan. Gul took 3 wickets,
Hafeez capped a fine day with two while there were 2 each for Ajmal and
Junaid. Pakistan lead the series by a 2-1 margin. |
